CDC Recommended COVID-19 Solution for Small Businesses

As part of our on-going commitment to support our clients, Payroll Management Solutions is
pleased to announce a program designed to help you support the health of your current
employees as well as employees laid off due to the Coronavirus. The CDC (Centers for Disease
Control) recommends telemedicine (remote virtual doctor care) to protect employees’ health
and reduce the spread of the Coronavirus. Capstone Health Network, a national healthcare
company, has agreed to provide our clients with their CapstoneCare™ enhanced telemedicine
program at special discount pricing.

In addition to safeguarding the health of your employees, CapstoneCare™ helps employers cut
employee turnover, reduce healthcare costs, and makes it affordable to provide healthcare to
your fulltime, part-time, 1099, or laid-off employees. CapstoneCare™ also helps employers
hire and retain top caliber employees, reduce employee sick days and call-offs, cut employee
recruiting and training costs, and improve employee productivity, health, and job satisfaction.
The CapstoneCare™ program costs employers nothing when employee-paid. Alternatively,
employers can choose to cover the modest $15-$30 per employee per month cost. You will
also receive a special 10% discount negotiated for you by Payroll Management Solutions!
CapstoneCare™ includes 24/7/365 telemedicine doctor care from home in less than 1 hour with
NO doctor bills, co-pays, or deductibles, no-fee mental health counseling, and discounts of up
to 85% on all FDA-approved drugs. The more comprehensive CapstoneCare Premium program

Payroll Management Solutions, in Partnership with PayrollCentric, Acquires Apple One Payroll

Combined Companies Become One of the Largest Payroll Service Businesses in Southern California But Continue to Deliver Customer-Friendly Service with a Personal Touch

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Payroll Management Solutions Inc. and PayrollCentric Inc. acquired Apple One Payroll on September 10, 2015, with all account transfers and first payrolls becoming effective under the new management on October 1, 2015.  Steve Goldstein and Bahaa Mikhail, owners of Payroll Management Solutions and PayrollCentric respectively, were singled out by Apple One Payroll's Vice President Jeff Kornriech during the acquisition process for having "a stellar reputation for excellence in payroll processing, customer service and support."  Both companies are based in Southern California.

"We're honored to be chosen to acquire Apple One and we look forward to serving our new clients," says Steve Goldstein, CEO/Founder of Payroll Management Solutions.  "We and our colleagues at PayrollCentric have long prided ourselves on offering 'high-touch customer service' at half the cost of our competitors.  We will remain a local boutique service provider, able to respond quickly to any situation and not 'nickel & dime' the client for every little thing.  We are very proud of our high rate of client retention."

Payroll Management Solutions was founded in 2004 by Goldstein, a longtime South Bay resident.  Prior to the acquisition, PMS and PayrollCentric were serving more than 1,500 employers of all sizes and industries.  Payroll Management Solutions provides many related services.  In addition to basic services like tax filing, check signing and stuffing, direct deposit and employee debit cards, they offer time and attendance systems, time-off accruals, HR software and interface files to various accounting systems.

"We love being a part of the fabric of the South Bay," says Goldstein.  He has served as Chairman of the Board of the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce and his wife, Jennifer, has served as Chair of the Manhattan Beach Chamber.   Both are involved in local politics and helping to build a strong local economy.  Goldstein also plays in two local bands.  He has been in the payroll service industry for 32 years.

PayrollCentric is SSAE 16 Certified and has been recognized by INC Magazine as one of the INC 500 Companies' fastest growing businesses in the last two years.  Bahaa Mikhail has over 25 years of experience in managing payroll service organizations.

Patch Interview

Though located in Los Angeles, Payroll Management Solutions is a business owned by a longtime South Bay resident. Owner Steve Goldstein took the time to answer five questions from Patch.

Patch: How did Payroll Management Solutions get started?

Steve Goldstein: March 2004. I had been in the payroll service industry for 21 years at the time when I decided to strike out on my own and build a better payroll service. We are now coming up on our 10 year anniversary and service over 600 employers of all sizes and industries. Our clients all come from referrals and most come from other payroll services where they were not happy with the service they were getting.

Patch: What's Payroll Management Solutions known for?

Goldstein: High touch customer service at half the cost of the major competitors. We are the local boutique payroll service provider, able to respond quickly to any situation and not "nickel & dime" the client for every little thing. We are very proud of our high rate of client retention.

Patch: What's unique about Payroll Management Solutions?

Goldstein: Our response time is almost instant. Most other companies in our business have voice mail and phone operators and it takes days sometimes to get a call back. We believe this is unacceptable so our phones are answered by actual client service reps who are qualified to handle your question or solve your problem right away so you can get back to your business.

Patch: What's the best part about being located in the South Bay?

Goldstein: We love being a part of the fabric of the South Bay. I have lived here for 30 years. I served as Chairman of the Board of the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce and my wife served as Chair of the Manhattan Beach Chamber, as well as the Women in Business Conference. We have both been very involved in local politics and helping to build a strong local economy. What better place to live and work?

Patch: If you could give your customers one piece of advice, what would it be?

Goldstein: Do not attempt to do your own payroll. If you have even one employee, you have a payroll, and that means that every time you pay that employee, you have liabilities to the IRS and the EDD. If you don't know exactly what you're doing there, it will cost you. Let a professional service handle that part of your business so you don't have to. We offer the most comprehensive service at the lowest cost.

The Bottom Line of Payroll

In reviewing a business loan proposal, the lender will often ask how much time is spent on making money and how much time is spent on non-revenue generating activities. The processing of payroll is one of those items that is clearly important, but may not be the best use of time for a small business owner.

I spent some time recently with Steve Goldstein of Payroll Management Solutions to get his thoughts on a recent poll from the NFIB which showed that nearly two thirds of the nation's small businesses process their own payroll due to concerns about cost and control. Here's what he had to say…
