Patch: How did Payroll Management Solutions get started?
Steve Goldstein: March 2004. I had been in the payroll service industry for 21 years at the time when I decided to strike out on my own and build a better payroll service. We are now coming up on our 10 year anniversary and service over 600 employers of all sizes and industries. Our clients all come from referrals and most come from other payroll services where they were not happy with the service they were getting.

Patch: If you could give your customers one piece of advice, what would it be?
Goldstein: Do not attempt to do your own payroll. If you have even one employee, you have a payroll, and that means that every time you pay that employee, you have liabilities to the IRS and the EDD. If you don't know exactly what you're doing there, it will cost you. Let a professional service handle that part of your business so you don't have to.
